Geely Auto is stepping up its presence across the Middle East as the Chinese manufacturer looks to capitalise on growing regional demand for electrified vehicles, following a significant increase in global sales and exports during the opening months of 2026.
The company reported global passenger vehicle sales of 206,160 units in February, contributing to cumulative sales of 476,327 units during January and February. New energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 117,488 units in February, with year-to-date NEV sales reaching 241,740 units.

For Middle East markets, however, the strongest indicator of Geely’s ambitions came from its overseas performance. The manufacturer recorded exports of 60,879 vehicles in February, representing a 138% year-on-year increase. NEVs made up 40,852 of those exports, accounting for 67% of total overseas shipments.
The figures come as Gulf countries continue to accelerate investments in sustainable mobility and electric vehicle infrastructure. Governments across the UAE and Saudi Arabia have introduced policies and initiatives designed to support electrification, creating new opportunities for vehicle manufacturers seeking growth beyond their domestic markets.
Geely identified the Middle East as one of its strategic growth regions, citing strong infrastructure development, increasing consumer demand for advanced mobility solutions and rising adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles throughout the GCC.

In the UAE, the company’s expansion is being supported through its partnership with AGMC, which has continued to grow Geely’s retail and aftersales presence. The distributor has expanded customer touchpoints across the country while supporting a growing base of Geely vehicle owners.
The manufacturer is also increasing its focus on higher-value electrified models as part of its international growth strategy. Several vehicles within its NEV portfolio continue to achieve significant sales milestones, including the Geely EX2, which has surpassed 610,000 cumulative sales globally, and the Geely EX5, which has exceeded 250,000 units.
Geely’s growing international profile has also been recognised through its environmental, social and governance performance. The company was included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026 and named an “Industry Mover”, becoming the only Chinese automotive manufacturer featured among eight global automakers recognised in the publication.

As the company marks its 40th anniversary, Geely said it intends to further strengthen its Middle East footprint through expanded distribution networks, strategic partnerships and a broader range of electrified and intelligent vehicles tailored to regional customer requirements.
For fleet operators and mobility providers across the Gulf, the manufacturer’s growing focus on NEVs signals an increasingly competitive market as global brands position themselves to support the region’s transition towards lower-emission transport.
