Avalon General Land Transport (Avalon) has expanded its UAE fleet with the addition of new SANY heavy-duty electric trucks, marking a further step in the company’s transition towards lower-emission freight transport operations.
The vehicles have been supplied by Emirates Global Motor Electric, a subsidiary of Al Fahim Group and the authorised distributor of SANY electric commercial vehicles in the UAE. The new trucks will be deployed across Avalon’s domestic logistics network, supporting cargo transportation activities while helping to reduce the environmental impact of fleet operations.
According to Avalon, the investment forms part of a long-term sustainability strategy focused on cleaner logistics, lower fleet emissions and greater operational efficiency. The company said the latest additions will strengthen its ability to deliver transport services while advancing its environmental objectives across the UAE and wider GCC region.
The move reflects growing interest in battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles within the Gulf’s transport and logistics sector, as operators seek practical solutions to reduce carbon emissions without compromising productivity. Fleet electrification is increasingly being viewed as a key component of regional decarbonisation efforts, particularly as governments and businesses pursue ambitious sustainability targets.
The deployment also aligns with the UAE’s broader environmental agenda, including the country’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality through a combination of clean energy, sustainable infrastructure and lower-emission transport solutions.
SANY’s heavy-duty electric truck range has been developed for demanding commercial applications, combining battery-electric powertrains with payload capabilities suited to logistics and industrial operations. Among the models available is the SANY EV490, which offers fast-charging technology and can handle payloads of up to 100 tonnes, making it suitable for a variety of heavy transport duties.
By incorporating electric heavy-duty vehicles into its fleet, Avalon is positioning itself to meet increasing customer demand for more sustainable transport services while supporting national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The latest fleet expansion underlines the growing role of electric commercial vehicles in the region’s logistics sector and highlights the pace at which operators are adopting alternative powertrain technologies as part of their long-term business strategies.
