Union Coop and ABER bring vehicle checks to the customer

New mobile inspection service allows motorists to complete official vehicle testing while shopping, bringing greater convenience to everyday journeys

Union Coop has partnered with ABER Vehicle Testing to introduce an official Mobile Vehicle Inspection Service, giving motorists in Dubai a more convenient way to complete a requirement that traditionally involves a dedicated visit to a vehicle testing centre.

The initiative, which is being introduced as a pioneering retail-sector service in the Middle East and North Africa, allows customers to have their vehicles officially inspected while carrying out their regular shopping. Rather than making a separate journey and spending additional time at a conventional inspection centre, motorists can combine the vehicle check with an existing visit to Union Coop.

The service is being launched initially at Etihad Mall and Dubai Silicon Oasis. ABER, a vehicle inspection service provider licensed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is operating its mobile inspection units at both Union Coop locations. The programme is expected to expand progressively to other Union Coop sites, bringing the service closer to customers in additional residential communities.

The mobile units have been equipped with specialised inspection equipment and advanced technology to carry out official vehicle inspections. Operations are conducted in line with the regulations, operational requirements and safety standards approved by Dubai’s RTA, ensuring that the mobile service maintains the required standards applied at traditional vehicle testing facilities.

For Union Coop, the initiative is intended to demonstrate how everyday retail destinations can evolve into locations offering a broader range of practical community services. By combining shopping with an essential motoring requirement, the partnership aims to reduce the time and planning associated with vehicle inspection without compromising the quality or accuracy of the process.

Commenting on the initiative, Mohamed Al Hashemi, Chief Executive Officer of Union Coop, said: “Vehicle inspection has always meant lost time. A separate trip, waiting, extra planning in an already full day. Today we remove that step, and customers complete their inspection while they shop.

“We are not simply adding a service. We are giving people their time back. That is the value we are building at Union Coop: turning our locations into integrated community destinations that deliver real services in one place, and save customers time instead of consuming it.”

The partnership also supports Union Coop’s wider strategy of working with organisations from different sectors to broaden the value-added services available to customers under one roof.

Following the initial launch at Etihad Mall and Dubai Silicon Oasis, Union Coop and ABER plan to introduce the mobile inspection service at further locations in phases. The companies say additional sites will be announced in due course, potentially extending the service to more motorists and communities across Dubai.
