FedEx opens regional logistics facility in Qatar Free Zones

Qatar’s logistics sector, currently valued at USD 10.14 billion, is projected to expand to USD 13.49 billion by 2030

FedEx Logistics has inaugurated a new regional logistics facility at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, developed in partnership with Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ). The opening adds a significant player to Qatar’s ambitions as a trade and supply chain hub.

The 1,249 sqm site, operated by FedEx Logistics Qatar QFZ LLC, integrates warehousing, storage, and office space. Linked to the FedEx global network, it will provide freight forwarding, scheduling, and supply chain solutions for industries such as retail, automotive, and technology. Its location near Hamad International Airport and Hamad Port is designed to streamline multimodal transport and customs processes.

Qatar’s logistics sector, currently valued at USD 10.14 billion, is projected to expand to USD 13.49 billion by 2030. The country ranks seventh globally for logistics competence in the Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index 2024.

At the inauguration, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani, CEO of QFZ, said the investment reinforced Qatar’s competitiveness as a logistics hub. “The investment by FedEx underscores QFZ’s competitive advantages, world-class infrastructure, seamless logistics connectivity network, and strategic geographical location close to the most prominent global markets,” he said.

“We are confident that this milestone will contribute to strengthening Qatar’s leadership as a global hub for innovation, logistics and international trade.”

Patrick Moebel, President of FedEx Logistics, added that the facility would connect Qatar and the wider region to global markets with greater speed and efficiency. “By integrating this location into the FedEx global network, we can deliver smarter, more reliable logistics solutions that help businesses grow and compete in today’s fast-moving global economy,” he said.

“Establishing this facility in Qatar enables us to connect our Qatari and regional customers to major markets in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America with greater speed and efficiency.”
