KEZAD begins work on Global Auto Hub

The Global Auto Hub - Abu Dhabi is set to become one of the largest hubs of its kind in the region

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group, the leading operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones in the UAE, is pleased to announce the commencement of infrastructure work valued at approximately AED 330 million in the development of the Abu Dhabi Food Hub, Global Auto Hub – Abu Dhabi, and other projects within its Area B1 in KEZAD Al Ma’mourah.

These significant investments are part of AD Ports Group’s 5-year organic capex programme totaling AED 15 billion planned between 2023 and 2027.

In line with its commitment to partnering with the world’s best, KEZAD Al Ma’mourah Area B1 has been master-planned by Parsons, a renowned global firm specializing in infrastructure development.

AECOM, one of the world’s largest infrastructure consultancies, has been entrusted with the design of secondary infrastructure within the Food and Auto Hubs. UAE-based Saif Bin Darwish has been appointed as the contractor for primary infrastructure works that have already commenced in Area B1.

The masterplan for KEZAD Al Ma’mourah Area B1 encompasses a diverse range of industries and communities, including logistics, media, light manufacturing, staff accommodation services, and social amenities. The development will also feature vibrant commercial centers and a hotel, making it an attractive destination for businesses looking to leverage the strategic location and integrated business ecosystem within KEZAD.

Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group, expressed his enthusiasm for this monumental project: “Our development in KEZAD Al Ma’mourah Area B1 is one of the largest undertakings thus far. The state-of-the-art infrastructure being constructed will support strategically vital businesses, services, and solutions, adding immense value to Abu Dhabi’s standing as one of the world’s largest and most advanced industrial, trade, and logistics ecosystems, in alignment with the vision of the country’s leadership.”

Abu Dhabi Food Hub and Global Auto Hub – Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Food Hub is considered a pivotal project, essential to the UAE’s economic resilience and vitality. Positioned as the central hub for food trade, processing, and distribution in the region, it is being developed in partnership with the Ghassan Aboud Group and in collaboration with France’s Rungis International. The project aims to ensure food security, reduce food waste, and promote sustainable agriculture practices.

The Global Auto Hub – Abu Dhabi, another significant venture developed in partnership with Ghassan Aboud Group, is set to become one of the largest hubs of its kind in the region. This ecosystem will comprise dedicated areas for showrooms, storage, spare parts, workshops, test tracks, auction houses, social and office spaces, as well as logistics and support services.

Maher Aboud, CEO of Ghassan Aboud Group, highlighted the projects’ significance: “The development of the Abu Dhabi Food Hub and the Global Auto Hub – Abu Dhabi, each covering an area of 3.3 square kilometers, along with other large-scale industrial developments in the area, underscore the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its food supply chain and bolstering its position as a global trade hub. These transformative projects align with the UAE’s aspirations to fortify its non-oil economy, providing customers with seamless business experiences and world-class services.”

KEZAD Al Ma’mourah Area B1 also boasts light manufacturing facilities and logistics infrastructure, facilitating efficient production and distribution of goods. The strategic location of this area allows businesses to connect with global marketplaces in a streamlined manner, capitalizing on Abu Dhabi’s continually improving connectivity. It is poised to become a regional and global economic powerhouse, further solidifying Abu Dhabi’s role as a burgeoning economic and trade hub
